Laporan Kondisi Kesukarelaan Dunia 2011: Nilai-nilai universal untuk kesejahteraan global
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) meluncurkan “Laporan Kondisi Kesukarelawanan Dunia 2011: Nilai-nilai universal untuk kesejahteraan global (State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2011: Universal Values for Global Well-being)” pada tanggal 5 Desember 2011 New York, Amerika Serikat. Laporan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengakuan, fasilitasi, dan promosi jaringan di seluruh dunia kesukarelaan. Ini juga akan meningkatkan pengakuan atas peran penting dari UNV sebagai organisasi yang menetapkan standar dalam damai dan pembangunan, serta kesukarelaan, dalam sistem PBB.
State of the World’s Volunteerism Report (SWVR) mempromosikan pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai kesukarelaan. Ini menunjukkan universalitas, ruang lingkup dan jangkauan kesukarelaan bersama dengan tren baru di abad kedua puluh satu. Laporan ini mengkaji kontribusi penting dalam berbagai bidang seperti penghidupan yang berkelanjutan, inklusi sosial, kohesi sosial, pengurangan risiko bencana, pemerintahan dan partisipasi politik. Dengan menyarankan bagaimana kesukarelaan dapat diambil ke depan, SWVR juga menyediakan suatu visi alternatif masyarakat yang lebih baik. SWVR menunjukkan bahwa, di kebanyakan masyarakat di seluruh dunia, sukarelawan memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap pembangunan ekonomi dan sosial. Melalui tindakan sukarela mereka, jutaan orang berkontribusi untuk mencapai Tujuan Pembangunan Milenium (MDGs).
Laporan ini akan membantu untuk memindahkan kesukarelaan ke era baru di mana dimensi yang benar dan mendasar merupakan bagian integral dari wacana umum tentang isu-isu global.
Buku “Laporan Kondisi Kesukarelawanan Dunia 2011: Nilai-nilai universal untuk kesejahteraan global (State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2011: Universal Values for Global Well-being)” ini penting bagi pengembangan wacana dan praktik kesukarelaan di Indonesia. Alangkah baiknya bila buku laporan tersebut dapat ditermahkan ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia sehingga dapat dibaca dan dipelajari oleh para relawan di seluruh Indonesia yang tidak paham dengan Bahasa Inggris.
